Tara Thomas, a proud, lifelong resident of Malta, is dedicated to making it an even better place to live, learn, work and raise a family.

First elected in 2007, Thomas has been a driving force for positive change in the town, some of her accomplishments include: reforms to the town’s downtown master plan, $4 million dollars in host community benefits including $1 million for ball fields in the LFTC campus and $3 million for Malta Foundation, founded the non-for-profit organization Malta League of Arts, Key member of Malta’s Team to bring Global Foundries to Malta – creating thousands of jobs, on going planning and development of the Round Lake Preserve, has worked jointly alongside the Village of Round Lake on many key issues and consisently stands with residents against a town tax. 

Tara’s continued focus is fiscal accountability and responsibility in its government and ensuring that the needs of taxpayers, families and small businesses are fully met. 

Tara has been –and continues to be – an outspoken advocate for Malta’s hard-working taxpayers and has made increased dialog and communication with Malta residents among her top priorities.

Tara’s commitment to serving Malta includes: Chair of Malta’s Website and New Media Team, member of the Town’s Fire Protection Plan Committee, former Chair of the Malta Trails Committee and former member of Storm Water Committee and Planning and Zoning Review Committee.  Tara also served as a Teen Representative to the Malta Youth Commission and as a Youth Recreation Counselor while growing up in Malta.

Tara believes in giving back to the community, as evidenced through her volunteer work with American Red Cross, the Round Lake Youth Baseball League, Project Yellow Ribbon/Adopt-A-Soldier, Round Lake Water Team and as an Aqua Fitness instructor working with senior citizens at the YMCA. Tara is also a member of the Malta Business and Professional Association and President of the Malta League of Arts, Inc., 

A trained and experienced communications professional, as well as a graphic artist, for over ten years Tara has utilized her skills and training to help clients achieve their personal and professional goals, both in the private and public sectors, respectively.

Tara presently owns her own Graphic Design/New Media Firm, Tara Thomas Design since 2007. 

Tara her husband Keith, and their dachshund, Libby reside in the Town.
