A building permit is required for any renovations, conversions, or alterations to buildings or properties in the Town. Information can be obtained from the Building Department in the Town Hall, located 1/4 mile north on Route 9 from the intersection of Route 9 and Route 67 at: 2540 Route 9 Malta, NY 12020

No. The area in the southern part of the Town (including the developments of Knolls 11, Country Knolls North, Hearthwood Estates, etc.) are covered by Clifton Park Water Authority and are thus with a municipal water company. The subdivision of Luther Forest, Northway Estates, some residents around Saratoga Lake, and some other areas are hooked up to Saratoga Water Services (privately held water company) and Saratoga County Sewer system.
The Northwood Development is hooked up to Northwood Water Co in Ballston Spa. The Town of Malta does not have its own municipal water or sewer. The Town of Malta does not maintain records of survey maps. If you need a copy of a filed map please check with the Saratoga County Clerk's Office or Saratoga County Office of Real Property.
No. There is no Town law or ordinance regulating fences. However, fences in excess of 8 feet in height or higher will need to comply with NYS Building Code or HOA guidelines if applicable. The Town of Malta does recommend that you place any fencing at least 1 foot inside of your property line to allow room for maintenance. We also recommend you communicate with your neighbor to let them know you are constructing a fence.
