Citzen's Preparedness Corps


Malta’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)



The ‘Citizen Preparedness Corps’ is a program created by the Governor’s Office as a result of Hurricane Sandy and is led by the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES).  In this FREE program you will learn basic principles of emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.

Sponsored by Malta’s CERT, the course takes approximately one hour and includes a certification by the State.  It will be presented by members of the NY Army National Guard.  In it you will be presented with a lot of important information including:

  • Developing a Family Emergency Plan
  • Building a “Go-Bag”
  • Active Shooter scenarios
    • and much more
  • This FREE course is offered to Malta residents and will be presented at the Malta Community Center on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm.
