Town of Malta Agricultural Enhancement Program

The Town of Malta was awarded a Municipal Agricultural and Farmland Protection Planning Grant from the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets to develop an effective set of strategies to encourage the retention and growth of agriculture in our community. The Town is seeking input from those of you who have unique sets of interests and experiences that could help shape a strong and effective agricultural enhancement strategy.

Malta recognizes that agriculture continues to be a leading industry in Saratoga County and that a critical mass of farmland is necessary to retain the vitality of both agricultural production and agricultural uses. Malta also recognizes that equine business is a growing industry and the Town wants to maximize these interests as a means to keep real property taxes low, preserve farmland, and to function as an important economic development driver.
