Michalko Park Property

Eastline Road

In 2006 the Town purchased a +20 acre farm to preserve the rural character of the Eastline Road area through Town and County open space funds. The parcel has a beautiful agricultural landscape that contributes to the aesthetic and visual character of the area and could be considered an historic landscape. In 2008 a public parking area will be added for drop in field and picnic use. Remember, if you bring your pets, you are required to clean up after them.

Trails

Zim Smith Trail

In 1998, the Town of Malta paved a section of the Zim Smith Trail from Eastline Road to Ruhle Road to provide pedestrian, bicycle, in-line skating, strollers and wheel chairs to the Shenantaha Creek Park. In the fall of 2001, the town paved an additional mile and a half of the Zim Smith Trail to the Village of Round Lake.

Parade Ground Trail

In 2000, the Town paved a trail from the Malta Community Park to the downtown area. The Parade Ground Trail provides safe access to the Malta Community Park on Plains Road.

Ruhle Road Bridge

The Ruhle Road Bridge is a 19th century lenticular truss bridge. The placement of this bridge provides a scenic link across the Ballston Creek to provide access to the Zim Smith Trail and the Shenantaha Creek Park. The bridge is one of only 13 in New York State and one of only five in the Hudson Valley region. In 2004 the bridge was added to the National Register of Historical Places.
